Breed: Golden Cross | Age: 2 Years Old
Meet Bogart IV
Bogart IV is the beloved facility dog at The Children’s Advocacy Center of Sullivan County, where he is known as their true “Difference Maker.” At 2 years old, this sweet Golden Cross brings calm, comfort, and courage to children during some of the hardest moments they may face. Bogart accompanies children during forensic interviews, helping lower anxiety and fear by offering a steady, reassuring presence. For many children, he becomes something positive to focus on — someone soft, safe, and comforting beside them while they do something incredibly brave.
He also gives children something hopeful to remember when they leave the CAC. Instead of focusing only on the difficult things they had to talk about, they can leave thinking about Bogart — his gentle presence, his comfort, and the special connection they shared. Bogart also supports children in court, offering that same sense of safety in the courtroom, and he meets with children before or after therapy appointments. Whether he’s sitting quietly beside a child, helping them feel brave enough to walk into a room, or standing by them in court, Bogart is an amazing part of the CAC’s multidisciplinary team.
About The Children’s Advocacy Center of Sullivan County
The Children’s Advocacy Center of Sullivan County provides child-centered, trauma-informed support to children and families navigating abuse investigations and healing services. Through coordinated care, forensic interviews, advocacy, therapy support, court preparation, and multidisciplinary collaboration, the CAC works to reduce trauma and help children feel safe, supported, and heard.
Training and Background
Bogart is a Canine Companions Facility Dog, specially bred and trained for the important role he now fills at the CAC. Before being matched with his handlers, Bogart completed specialized training to prepare him to remain calm, responsive, and comforting in high-stress environments.
His training allows him to support children during forensic interviews, court appearances, and therapy-related visits with confidence and steadiness. Today, Bogart uses those skills every day to bring comfort, security, and calm to children and families who need it most.
A Moment That Says It All
Bogart has a gift for helping fear soften into courage. One child arrived at the CAC afraid to leave their mother’s side. The fear and anxiety felt overwhelming — until they met Bogart. Almost instantly, something changed. With Bogart nearby, the child felt safe enough to come back for their forensic interview.
In another powerful moment, a young girl was preparing to face a court hearing where she would be in the same courtroom as her abuser. She was hesitant, afraid, and unsure if she could make it through the process. But with Bogart by her side, she found the strength to do something incredibly brave.
Those moments are exactly why Bogart is called a Difference Maker. He helps children feel safe when the world feels scary, brave when the moment feels too big, and supported when they need it most.
