Keeping Faith:

The Potential Role of a CAC Chaplain to Address the Spiritual Needs of Maltreated Children & Advise MDTs

Most maltreated children carry more than physical and emotional wounds. A growing body of research shows that abuse also causes spiritual injury, and that addressing it can measurably improve a child’s medical and mental health recovery. This webinar looks at an emerging response: the CAC chaplain. You will learn what the research says about spiritual harm in abuse cases, how a chaplain or spiritual care program fits inside a child advocacy center, how that role can advise a multidisciplinary team without overstepping it, and why the U.S. Department of Justice recently funded a grant to study this reform and build resources for CACs adopting it. Victor Vieth directs Zero Abuse Project’s Center for Faith and Child Protection and has trained thousands of child-protection professionals across 50 states, 2 U.S. Territories, and 17 countries.
