Guardify Honors July 11th as Survivor Support Day

Wear purple – connect virtually – celebrate!

Survivors of child abuse, and their powerful stories of courage and resilience, are at the center of our social impact mission at Guardify.  In recognition of survivors’ strength and the compassion and dedication of those who work tirelessly to support them, Guardify is hosting a special celebration for the 2nd Annual Survivor Support Day.  This year, Survivor Support Day will launch with a virtual kick-off with an inspiring story from Survivor Jolene Loetscher and will include guests from the child advocacy center movement including forensic interviewers, survivors, government officials and more. Guardify is proud to partner with the Nebraska Alliance of Child Advocacy Centers and Children’s Advocacy Centers of Washington for this virtual event.

Honoring survivors in Washington and Nebraska.

Guardify began in Seattle, Washington, inside the walls of Giving Tech Labs, a social impact innovation lab. Earlier this year, Guardify headquarters moved to Omaha, Nebraska, home of Project Harmony, the first child advocacy center to launch Guardify. In a show of unified support, Survivor Support Day will be celebrated in both Washington and Nebraska this year as the legacy continues.

Survivor Support Day history:

Survivor Support Day is observed each year on July 11, in recognition of the founding of Guardify. Guardify was created on July 11, 2018, to support child advocacy centers and protect survivors of child abuse. To honor this day of commitment to children and the network of care providing services of justice and healing, Guardify created Survivor Support Day to celebrate survivors at the center of our work.

First celebrated in Washington in 2019, Governor Jay Inslee officially proclaimed July 11 as Survivor Support Day. To show support for this initiative, child advocacy center staff and supporters around the state wore purple, the signature Guardify hue.

In 2020, support has grown to include proclamations by both Governor Inslee of Washington State and Governor Pete Ricketts of Nebraska.

Join the celebration.

Inspiring survivors exist everywhere.  We seek to amplify the voice and celebrate the strength of all survivors and invite supporters from all over to attend this year’s virtual celebration featuring representatives from child advocacy centers, multidisciplinary teams, government officials, and survivors alike.

The event takes place on Friday, July 10th at 11 am CDT/9 am PDT. To RSVP and receive calendar details, contact us.
